Kyle Dylan Dishner, 30, of Mechanicsville, was sentenced to 20 years in prison with all but eight suspended after being caught with 296 capsules that contained a combination of fentanyl and xylazine.
St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling said that on June 3, 2022, detectives from the sheriff’s office executed a search and seizure warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into Dishner and his dealings.
During the search of Dishner and his vehicle, detectives recovered several plastic bags with hundreds of capsules inside the car. The seized drugs have an estimated value of $9,000.
Dishner and a passenger were taken into custody without incident.
Sterling requested in court that DIshner get the maximum sentence of 20 years for "trafficking such an alarming quantity of the deadly drug" from Baltimore into St. Mary's County.
"In 2020, fentanyl caused more deaths in Maryland than the total number of motor vehicle fatalities, in addition to the total number of homicides, combined and doubled," she said, while calling fentanyl "the number one killer," and referencing the seized drugs as "296 doses of poison."
